Power of Pink

This month is especially personal to me because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This disease has affected Mothers, Sisters, Aunts, Grandmothers, Cousins, Friends, Co-workers and the list goes on and on. For me, it was my mother who had breast cancer and although, she has been cancer free for many years by the grace of God. This cause will always be an important one to me. Awareness about this disease through knowledge and education about the steps to minimize your risk is an important aspect about the Pink Campaigns. In the U.S., statistics tell us that every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Men also are diagnosed with breast cancer but on a smaller scale. Regardless, awareness about early detection and screenings could be the difference in someone's health outcome. Unfortunately, there are companies that use this month as a marketing opportunity and do not donate 100% of the profit from the products sold. I will be highlighting the products that do donate 100% to the cause along with other products that also donate a percentage of profit. I was out shopping the other day and noticed the breast cancer awareness section and as my perusing continued, I came across a Pink shirt that said, "Aloha." But instead of an "h" there was a Pink ribbon which I thought was the perfect Hawaiian influenced breast cancer awareness gear. However, there was no sign indicating where the profits would be donated. Can you believe that the none of the profits from the shirt went to any breast cancer cause? Needless to say, I did not purchase the shirt and will not purchase any Pink awareness products that do not donate.

Want to get in shape + support the cause? Then check out your local Bloomingdale's this Saturday, October 3rd to participate in Pink Yoga. The fee is $10 and all the proceeds go to Cancer Vixen and The Tutu Project. Yoga will be approximately 45 minutes and participants will go home with a yoga mat and gift bag! Check out the site here, to see which Bloomingdale's near you is hosting this event and sign up!

I am really disappointed that the Bloomingdale's out in Hawaii is not participating because I would love to participate in this!

Happy Friday & spread some pink awareness!

More products that donate to the cause:

*This post depicts my suggestions for breast cancer awareness products based on my belief that companies should not cease this month as an opportunity to excel their own company. Rather they should concentrate on how they can donate more money to the cause, therefore I am not financially benefiting from this post. I simply believe in the cause and want to spread some awareness.
