Back to School Makeup Look

The time of year has arrived when the teachers or professors across the country begin editing their syllabus and reviewing their student comment sheets from last semester. Well maybe not reviewing the comments, do they even read those dedicated student's complaints and compliments? In undergrad, I can remember my professor distributing the comment sheets and as soon as he or she exited the room, all the students would ditch the lecture hall. I was one of those students who actually looked forward to the opportunity to express my opinions "anonymously" and would actually write paragraphs. Yes, I took myself quite seriously in thinking that my advice would actually be important to the university.
Well whether you are attending college or high school, this moment can be a time of mixed emotions, but I want to ensure that you leave a positive first impression with the perfect makeup look. Below is the makeup look I will be sharing with all of you today and if you want to know how to recreate the look then read on!

(All products mentioned will be listed at the end of tutorial).

Always begin your makeup look with a good quality primer. This will ensure that your makeup lasts throughout the school day.
(Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is my go-to primer. This product is oil-free and paraben free).

The next step is eye shadow primer and eye shadow application. The reason to move onto eyes from the face primer is to ensure the face primer has plenty of time to soak into the skin. Plus, if you apply the face primer, foundation then apply eye products, the eye shadow flakes onto your foundation. Trust me! Focus on your gorgeous eyes after priming the face and you will thank me later.
(Urban Decay Eye shadow Primer is AMAZING! I have been using this product for years and it will make your eye shadow last, as well as accentuate the color of the shadow. Then use my new favorite eye shadow by elf, this is a baked eye shadow called "toasted." I love that the shadow has the same quality as Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette, specifically the shadow called "half baked." Yet, the elf eye shadow is literally $3! You cannot beat the quality nor price).

This is a very important step, because brows shape your entire face. If one brow is filled incorrectly, the whole makeup look is going to look wrong too. (Anastasia Beverly Hills browdip in the color "blonde" applied with the Anastasia Beverly Hills with Duo Brush #12).

The last steps to the eye area are to apply eyeliner and a coat of mascara. (Bobbie Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in the color "Black Scotch #33" was used for the top eyelid. This eyeliner was used on my wedding day in the middle of summer and no smudges! I love the product for long-lasting wear! For the inner waterline, I used Sephora brand Waterproof eyeliner in the color "Cappuccino #12." If you have blue eyes, this eyeliner will especially accentuate the blue tones of your eyes. Finished with "Jet Black" Diorshow Waterproof mascara by Dior or a cheaper alternative would be to use Voluminous by Lo'real Paris in Black Noir).

5) NOW back to the face! Conceal and  Contour! I conceal under my eyes and then follow with contouring underneath my cheekbones, top of the hairline and blend, blend, and blend! (Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation 5-in-1 PRO Palettes are used for this step. Cream foundations from Palette #3 and #7 are used). It is very important to set any cream based makeup products with powder. This ensures that the makeup will last throughout the school day. (Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder is applied underneath the eyes. Allow time for the powder to sit on skin, known as "baking" before sweeping the product off the surface of the skin). I also set my contour with (NARS bronzer in the color "Laguna"). Click here to check out where to purchase Cinema Secrets product.

Apply foundation to the skin with a DAMP beauty blender. This is a common mistake when using the beauty blender. If you do not dampen the blender, the beauty sponge will not provide an airbrushed appearance when applying the liquid foundation. (Too Faced Born this Way foundation in Honey was used and my new favorite foundation! Great quality and full coverage).

Go back and use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder to set your foundation. Then apply blush! (MAC Pro Longwear Blush in the color "Rosy Outlook," this color is the prettiest pink and lasts all day! This is a must in your makeup collection)!

Add a pretty highlight to the top of your cheekbones to create a summer glow. (Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill is simply divine! Check your local Sephora for availability, since most stores are sold out. However, one will be able to order the product online. Free shipping is offered if ordered in person at a local Sephora store)!

No lip liner was applied for this makeup look. Since this is a back to school look, my opinion was to keep the makeup more natural on the lips. If the eyes are more heavy with makeup then it is best to keep the lips more natural for a daytime look.
(Maybelline "Lilac Flush #725" lipstick was used).

That completes this back to school makeup look! The look will be sure to present a beautiful first impression on everyone you meet!

Enjoy the first day of school!
